Rosie Stokes Obituary

Mom, I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.  I thought about you yesterday and days before that too.  I think of you in silence, I often speak your name.  All I have are memories and your picture in a frame.  Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part.  God has you in His keeping, Mom, I have you in my heart.  " Your daughter, Leslie"

On the morning of, Monday, August 4, 2025, God called our dear Rosie Mae Johnson Stokes home to be with Him, surrounded by her loving family.  Rosie was born in Rowan County on, July 12, 1957 to the late James Johnson, Sr., and the late Margaret Jones Johnson. She received her education in the public schools of Salisbury/Rowan and college education in the area of health care where she earned her Certification as a Nurse Assistant.  She worked in this field for many years.  Her recent employment was with the North Carolina State Veteran's Home in Salisbury.

Rosie was very affectionate and enjoyed spending time with her family.  She loved traveling, baseball games, shopping, and going to races.  She always displayed a "bubbly" personality and never missed an opportunity to help others, especially on her job, where she shared her CNA skills with many.

In addition to her parents, Rosie is preceded in death by a brother David Lee Johnson, a sister, Marilyn Johnson and a great nephew, De'Andre Scott

Rosie's physical presence, her smile and her gifts will be solely missed and cherished by her daughter, Leslie Vanderburg (Rhakeem) of Kannapolis, NC; brother, Joseph Johnson (Phyllis), Statesville, NC; sisters; Linda Scott (Michael) Woodleaf, NC and Margaret Johnson, Statesville, NC; four grandchildren, Jayla, Zoe, Myles and Rhasheed; three great grandsons, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers and dear friends..
