Mr. Singer Arthur Geter, age 71, formerly of 915 Lafayette St., Salisbury, died, Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Brian Nursing Center. He was born, May 27, 1938 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Grover Lee and Louise Booker Geter. He attended R.A. Clement High School. He was a retired taxi driver with Safety Taxi Co. He previously worked at Cooleemee Mills and NC Finishing Company. He was a previous member of Concord Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC and Lily Chapel Church, Salisbury, NC.

Survivors are a wife, Dollie Williams Geter, Richmond, Va., daughters, Barbara Geter and Matilda Geter Reid (Tyrone) both of Mooresville, NC; Sharon Geter and Vallie Geter both of Charlotte, NC; step-daughters, Mary Brown (Michael), Salisbury, NC and Gail Spratt, Richmond, Va.; brothers, Isaac Geter, Spencer, NC, Robert Geter, East Spencer, NC, Jackie Geter, Joseph Geter (Lisa) and Bennie Geter (Elder Shay) all of Salisbury, NC and Rev. John K. Geter (Emma), Lexington, NC; sisters, Alberta Rudisell, Pastor Louise Everhart (Elder Charles), Evangelist Mary Jeter, and Rev. Charity Gladden all of Salisbury, NC, and Josephine Davis of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was previously married to Blanche Bailey Geter.

Memorial services will be Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. with visitation at 11:00 a.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church, East Spencer, NC with Reverend John Geter, Eulogist, Elder Shay Geter, officiating.
