Mrs. Verdine Mack Vinson, age 85, of 1430 Old Wilkesboro Road, Salisbury, died, Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Rowan Regional Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1923 in Commerce, Ga., to the late Willie and Theola Hill Mack. Mrs. Vinson was a graduate of J.C. Price High School. She retired as a housekeeper with the W.C. Stanback family. A faithful and dedicated member of Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, she was a member of the Mother's Board, Usher Board and the Women's Congress of the Southwest District of the Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death in her husband, Jasper Vinson, Sr., who died in 1984.

Survivors are sons, Robert Vinson, El Paso, Tx., Paul Vinson, Manhattan, NY, Jasper Ed Vinson, Jr. (Carolyn), Woodleaf, NC and Gary Vinson, Sr., Salisbury, NC; daughters, Geraldine Hoover, Tamara Vinson and Daphne Vinson all of Salisbury, NC, Brenda Rucker and Jacqueline Gregory (Matthew) both of Woodleaf, NC; brother, Richard Mack, Phila. Pa., sisters, Evelyn Knox, Cleveland, NC, Jeannie Mack, NY, NY and Tarty Phine Mack, Charlotte, NC; eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great-great grandchildren; six great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with the Pastor, Elder Richard Johnson, officiating. Visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2008 in Oakwood Cemetery.
