Mr. Willie Leroy Jones, Sr., of 547 Westside Circle, China Grove, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Lutheran Nursing Home in Salisbury.

Mr. Jones was born September 13, 1921 in Chester, SC to the late Emanuel and Anna Rice Jones. He was educated in the public schools of Chester. He retired from Cannon Mills Plant#8 and Wise Oil Company.

A member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, China Grove, NC, Mr. Jones was a Deacon, member of the Men's Choir and a former member of Rising Star Choir.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Mae Johnson Jones who died July 8, 2004; sons, Sylvester Larry "Buck" Jones and Robert Jones; daughters, Johnsie Jones Cathcart, Diane Jones and Traci Jones.

Those who survivor to cherish his memory are sons, Ulysses "Tuck" Jones, China Grove and Grover Franklin Jones (Betty) and Terry Jones both of Salisbury, NC; David Goodes (Certia), Landis, NC and Willie Ramseur, Charlotte, NC; daughters, Sylvia Jones Davis and China Grove, NC, Lisa Jones, Martha Jones and Naomi Ramseur (Robert) all of Salisbury, NC; brothers, Robert Jones, Salisbury, NC and Bobby Jones, Baltimore, MD;p sisters, Mary Rose Washington and Jean Norris (William) both of Baltimore, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 4:00 pm and visitation at 3:00 pm Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, China Grove, NC with the Pastor, Reverend James I. Smith, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
