Mr. Alexander Edwards, 78 of Myron Place, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at the V.A. Medical Center of Salisbury. Mr. Edwards was born August 17, 1938 in Rowan County, NC to the late Norvel Edwards and Betty Gaither Edwards. He attended R.A. Clement School, Cleveland, NC and graduated from Manasquan High School, Manasquan, New Jersey. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the early 1960’s. He was employed at Woodbridge Monument Co., Base Engineer, Fort Dix, New Jersey, and New Jersey Boiler Operator at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey where he retired as a Base Police Officer. Later, he returned to North Carolina.

Mr. Edwards was a member of Fairview Heights Baptist Church, Salisbury and a member of the Gospel Choir, Men’s Choir and Kitchen Committee.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a beloved wife, Mrs. Deborah Abel Edwards of the home, and six children: Alexander Troy Edwards, Lakewood, NJ; Gary (June) Edwards, Willingboro, NJ; Vikki Edwards-Hawkins, Lakewood, NJ; Craig (Cindy), Edwards, Gig Harbor, Washington; Marc (Johanna) Edwards, Manchester, NJ; and Tanya (Brian) Holland, Toms River, NJ; one brother, Willie (Martha) Edwards, Salisbury, NC; 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Service: Tuesday, October 11, 2016-Visitation: 8:00 a.m., Funeral: 9:00 a.m. Jerusalem Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. David L. Bracken, pastor.  Rev. Clarence Marlin, eulogist. Burial: Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., U.S. National Cemetery.
