Ferrens Thomas Jones, age 55, of Salisbury passed unexpectedly at Novant Rowan Medical Center, Salisbury on Thursday, September 22, 2016. He was born, July 23, 1961 to the late Sarah Ferrens Jones Dulin and the late Arthur Jones. He was preceded in death by his special niece, Rae Danielle Jones.

Thomas graduated from North Rowan High School. He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. At the time of his death, he was a full-time student at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He retired after thirty years of service with the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

Thomas was a faithful member of Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he sang on the Men’s Choir and was a trustee-elect. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Arthur R. Jones, (Connie) Timothy Walker (Sheila), of Salisbury, NC; sisters; Bessie Jones (Joe), Salisbury, NC; JoAnn Jones, Goldsboro, NC,; Rev. Phyllis P. Jones, Fayetteville, NC and Magalene Gaither, Mocksville, NC; aunts, Mary Leazer and Mary Janette Hawkins, both of Salisbury, NC; nephews, Tory Jones, and Eric Hudson; nieces, Sabrina Jones and Shannon Hudson; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held on, Monday, September 26, 2016 at Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Henderson Grove Church Road. Visitation 12:00 p.m.. Funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Perry Dye, pastor, eulogist.

The family will receive friends at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Connie Jones.
