William Ray ("Billy") Jones

May 25, 1950 ~ November 22, 2015 (age 65) 65 Years Old


William "Billy" Ray Jones departed this earthly life on, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Kiser Hospice House as a result of a massive heart attack.  He was born May 25, 1950 to Mary Janette Neely Jones Hawkins and the late Ernest Jennings Jones.

Billy was a graduate of North Rowan High School. He worked as a security officer at various locations.  Billy was a handyman who did many household repairs throughout the community, often visiting the elderly in the community and making any repairs they needed.

Billy was an avid fisherman.  He loved to fish with his mom, brothers, uncle, cousins and friends.  Also, you could see Billy diligently working on cars in his yard.  Repairing cars and making them run again was one of his passions.

Billy was an active member of Dorsett Chapel United Church where he served throughout the years by driving the bus, ushering, and more recently, cleaning the church.  His love for God led him to serve in any capacity needed.

He was preceeded in death by his twin brother, Robert Jones in 2013.  In addition to his twin brother and father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest Stephen, Richard and, David Jones and sister, Betty Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Janette Hawkins of Salisbury; seven sons, Ronnie Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Deangelo Johnson, Antoinyo Johnson, Reggie Johnson and William Ray Johnson, all of Toledo, Ohio; and Antion Johnson of Monroe, Michigan; a daughter Victoria Jones Belmon of Toledo, Ohio; two brothers, Larry Jones (Carolyn) of Wiliminton, Delaware and Eric Jones of Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  Loving uncles, Timothy Neely (Mildren), George Neely (Barbara Jean), Jerry Neely (Trudy) all and of Salisbury, NC; Tom Neely (Lizzie), and William Neely of New York, NY; Sidney Neely of Fayetteville, NC; devoted aunts, Phyllis Thomaside, Ann Pryor, Bessie Ellis, Evelyn Neely, Mary Virginia Leazer, all of Salisbury, NC, and Alice Foxworth of New York, NY; 13 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Service:  Friday, November 27, 2015, Dorsett Chapel United Church.  Rev.Thomas Wyatt, eulogist.  Visitation 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery, Hawkinstown Road. 

The family is receiving friends and relatives at the home of his mother, 1218 Old Plank Road, Salisbury, NC.
