Mike Anthony Watkins, 55 of Granite Quarry, NC, passed unexpectedly at Novant Rowan Medical Center, Salisbury, on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.  He was born, February 10, 1961 in Granite Quarry, to the late Berdie M. Watkins and the late Roscoe Robinson.  Mike was a former member of White Rock AME Zion Church, where he served at a young age as an altar boy and usher.

Mike graduated from East Rowan High School, where he played on the football team as a quarterback. Upon graduating, he trained and joined the United States Marines.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers; Ronald Lewis Beatty of the home, Andrew Robinson, Morehead City, NC; Julian Watkins, Morganton, NC; sisters; Vanessa Lowe, Salisbury, NC, Victoria Washington, and Patricia Eberhart, High Point, NC; Tomika Robinson Roshell (Marlon) Baily, Charlotte, NC, Janie Henery, Wilmington, NC, Aretha Turlington, and Marquita Robinson, both of Atlanta, Ga.; aunts, Barbara J. Hosch (Mickey), Salisbury, NC and Helen Corpening (Robert), Albemarle, NC; uncle, James Henry Robinson, Charlotte, NC; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Service:  Friday, July 22, 2016, White Rock A.M.E. Zion Church..  Visitation-12:00 p.m. followed by funeral-12:30 p.m.  Rev. Thomas Lee, Pastor.  Eulogist, Rev. Clarence Jay Shuford, Jr.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
